Meet Cold Blooded Vixens and their New Reptile Calendar!
The person responsible for this project is Courtney and you will find out all about her and her project in the mini interview below. We are very happy to be featuring CBV’s here on About-Snakes.com
What is actually the Cold Blooded Vixens project and why you created it? And what does it represent ?
I created Cold Blooded Vixens to help connect fellow reptile lovers together. I wanted to create a wonderful community of people who shared the same passion. My main reason for starting this page is to show these beautiful, misunderstood creatures in a better light. I had thought about creating a page like this in the past, but never really acted on it. I also realized that there really wasn’t another page like it. A good friend of mine actually pushed me to create it, so thanks Brad. I am also in the process of working on my website. I hope to launch that sometime in January. I’m always looking for new talent to feature on the page. So I always welcome models/photographers/artists/performers/etc who have worked with cold blooded animals to share their work and be featured on my page. I like to help others to gain more exposure, while showing the beauty of these magnificent animals. If anyone is interested they can message me on the page or email me. Beautiful women with awesome reptiles/arachnids what’s not to love?
Tell us a little bit more about yourself, your connection with snakes and reptiles in general. Why do they fascinate you?
I have always had a passion for reptiles/arachnids, ever since I was a little girl. I was always very fascinated by them. When I was young you could always find me outside catching frogs, and digging in the dirt for bugs. I tried to bring my awesome finds inside the house, but that never went over very smoothly. Sadly I never got to own any reptiles growing up due to living with a grandmother who did not like them much. She hated snakes, they terrified her. If she so much as saw a really long earthworm she would freak out.
I knew once I was old enough and could move out that would change, and I could finally have some scaly babies around. I now own an adult mated pair of Black and White Argentine Tegus (Westley and Buttercup), 7ft red Tail Boa(Athena), an emerald tree boa (Hades), 2 bearded dragons (Django and Lizzie), Veiled Chameleon (Suse), Rose Hair Tarantula (Charlotte), gopher snake (Bandit),and a Mexican Black Kingsnake (Diablo)….I think I got everybody lol.
In the past I had worked at a zoo. In the summer I worked the Summer Camps teaching the kids all about the animals, and taking them throughout the zoo to learn more. When summer was over I worked inside the zoo doing a little bit of everything from public education/awareness, preparing diets of various animals, building/maintaining enclosures, etc. My favorite part was hanging in the reptile house, and feeding & interacting with the Galapagos Tortoises
How did you find the models to feature on the Cold Blooded Vixens Calendar?
I ran a calendar contest where people sent in their submissions. I again want to congratulate all the winners. It was very hard to choose, so many wonderful submissions. Thanks again guys, without you this calendar never would have happened
All we can say, by just looking at the finished product,is that this is about a very special calendar. Everybody came together models, photographers, makeup artists ,hair stylists and of course the Reptiles to form this amazing project.
